Kyu Nakama is a film and video editor based in Brooklyn, with over a decade of experience working on films, documentaries, and commercials.
He has edited TV shows on HBO and Magnolia Network, and worked with companies like Vox Media, Food Network, and Discovery.
His narrative work has been screened across the country at festivals, including Sozo Bear Film Festival, Her Vision Film Festival, and Mindfield Film Festival (Best Short - Gold Award).
In the past, Kyu has worked as the Senior Video Editor at Fatherly, field-edited in the back of a moving van for Refinery29, and edited multiple 1M+ view episodes for Claire Saffitz.
A graduate of The Edit Center, Kyu has studied under Academy Award winner Adam Bolt (Inside Job, Human Nature), Betsy Kagen (From Nowhere, All This Panic), and Stella Quinn (Good Ol’ Girl, Who We Are Now) in “The Art of Editing”.
When he's not obsessing in trim mode, Kyu is either running a DnD campaign or rewatching the Cars 3 teaser trailer.
